KODAK, Tenn.  -- Duane Underwood allowed just two hits over 5 1/3 innings, leading the Tennessee Smokies over the Chattanooga Lookouts in a 4-1 win on Thursday.

Underwood (6-4) allowed one run while striking out six and walking four to pick up the win.

Stephen Gonsalves (2-3) went seven innings, allowing three runs and five hits.

He also struck out 10 and walked one in a hard luck loss. Gonsalves has struckout 42 batters in 34 innings this season.

Jason Vosler's 11th home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning was all the Smokies needed in their "must win" victory over the Lookouts.

Randy Rosario, who replaced Gonsalves in the eighth, gave up one more run on two hits.

Tennessee started the scoring in the first inning when Jason Vosler hit a two-run home run.

The Lookouts cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Travis Harrison scored on a ground out.

The Smokies later tacked on a run in both the sixth and eighth innings.

Ryan Walker went 2-for-3 with a double and single for the Lookouts. All-in-all, a fairly forgettable night for the Chattanooga hitters.

Dillon Maples struck Nick Gordon out with runners on first and second to end the game for his first save of the season.

Liberal Conspiracy Afoot

According to Roy Exum’s Sunday column, there are now upwards of six or seven Democrats in Hamilton County, and all of them have secretly maneuvered their way onto the boards of a couple of dozen local organizations. Unlike Republicans, some of them serve on multiple boards and some of them serve with one another on the same boards. This is outrageous. We all know that boards and ... (click for more)
