Students from Ringgold High School Student Council and members of Rock Bridge Church came out to help clean-up a local homeowner’s yard on Feb. 3.  The two groups partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Catoosa County to help make the project a success.

“This is part of Catoosa Habitat’s Community Clean-Up projects that we are doing throughout Catoosa County.” said Penny Mahon, Catoosa Habitat’s executive director. “We select the projects and groups volunteer to help come out and support a local homeowner.”

Volunteers from both groups helped remove debris and other waste that was located in the homeowner’s yard. “I just feel so blessed to receive this kind of help.” said the homeowner. “We’re not able to remove this stuff ourselves and to have these people here is a blessing.”

Some of the items removed included tires, scrap metal and plastic containers. “We’re just happy that we were able to come out and help.” said one volunteer from Rock Bridge Church. “By being involved in this project we are showing the love of Christ in our community."

Ringgold High School Student Council was also at the site to help with the project. “This was something that the students wanted to be a part of, and I’m glad we were able to come out and help.” said Maria Boone, sponsoring teacher for the Student Council. “Catoosa County Habitat for Humanity offered us a great way to give back to the community with this project and involve the students in civic engagement.”

Food was donated by Domino’s of Ringgold, which helped feed the over 30 volunteers who came out for the project. “Domino’s of Ringgold has supported Catoosa Habitat in the past, and we’re so thankful that they were willing to donate food today.” said Ms. Mahon. “Without their continued support we would not have been able to feed our volunteers for today.”
