Chattanooga Offense Struggles In 4-2 Loss At Montgomery Monday

The Lookouts waited late to begin scouring in earnest but too late to snap a game four losing to the Biscuits 4-2.  The Lookouts are now 34-30.  It's day baseball Tuesday as the teams announce starters on game day. Both the Lookouts and Biscuits are tied for second in the North division with six games to play.

Sean Poppen’s first two starts for the Lookouts were rough. In eight innings, he gave up 11 runs. On Monday, he posted a quality start. He gave up three runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out two and didn’t walk anyone.

James Ramsey cut the Montgomery lead with his third home run since joining the club to make it 3-1 in the fifth.

In the eighth with one out Edgar Corcino ripped his second hit of the night to left. That was followed by a Chris Paul double that cut the margin to one run. Andy Wilkins belted a deep double to center and Paul was the thrown out trying to score to tie the game. It would be the Lookouts last base hit.

The Biscuits added an insurance run in the bottom and the Looks went in order in the ninth.

Sam Clay worked the final two innings. He gave up one run on one hit and one walk. He struck out two.

Ramsey led the offense. He went 2-for-3 with a walk and his third home run. He also stole his first base. Andy Wilkins picked up his first walk and his first two hits, including a double, of the season after returning from the disabled list (hamate bone surgery). Edgar Corcino was also 2-for-3 in the game.

Following Tuesday's game, the Lookouts move on to Birmingham to face the Barons in the final series of first-half play.

Mocs Golfers Lead Memphis Intercollegiate

The Chattanooga Mocs turned in consistent rounds of 286 and 285 to lead the Memphis Intercollegiate after 36 holes Monday at Colonial Country Club.
