Goats Are Back At The Brainerd Farmers Market For Father's Day Weekend

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

The goats are back at the Brainerd Farmers’ Market for Father’s Day weekend.

Take Dad and the kids to the Brainerd Farmers Market for a real farm experience this Saturday, from 10 a.

m.- 12 p.m on the corner of Brainerd Road and Belvoir Avenue at Grace Episcopal Church in Chattanooga.

Dixie-Soaps will be bringing their goats to the Brainerd Farmer’s Market for a milking demonstration. Guests can see how a goat is milked and learn more about dairy goats.

Dixie Soaps is owned by Bill and Becky Ensinger. They live and work on a six acre farm in Dayton. Becky has raised dairy goats and farmed for 24 years. She began making soap as a way to use surplus milk, and eventually began selling her soaps and other skin care products. Dixie Soaps focuses on sustainable farming methods, and currently raise Alpine and LaMancha dairy goats. They enjoy sharing their products with customers and friends every Saturday at the Brainerd Market.

If you are in need of a gift still, you can pick up some handmade gentleman’s soap from one of Market Makers. It is also not too late to start a garden for your father. Down to Earth, Green Thumbs Galore, Crabtree Farms and Owl Hollow Farm will be at the market to help you with plants and planning Dad’s garden.

You can also pick up all you need for the Father’s Day BBQ that you will be having later that evening. Old McDonald Farm and Rowe Family Farm have grass fed beef, free range chicken and pork ready for you. There is hummus and salsa for your appetizer. We have the produce to put on the burgers and we even have seasonal fruits and lovingly made sweets for dessert.

The Brainerd Farmers Market is open every Saturday, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Brainerd Road and Belvoir Avenue at Grace Episcopal Church, Chattanooga

All of the farm fresh products at the market are naturally grown, free of pesticides, GMO's and antibiotics.

Market vendors accept cash, Debit/credit and EBT/SNAP for eligible items. The AARP Fresh Savings Program matches EBT/SNAP purchases with up to $20 in Fresh Savings Dollars for fresh fruits and vegetables. Market tokens for Debit/Credit and EBT/SNAP are available at the market information booth.

Grace has two connected parking areas, one accessed from Brainerd Road and a second accessed from Blevoir Avenue. Parking is free. Additional parking is available across the street at Food City, at Calamansi Cafe next to the market and along the side streets in the surrounding the community.

The word ‘ignobel’ is rarely used because only a few among us know that it means "characterized by baseness, lowness, or meanness."
